This site will be updated with latest news, and further information.
It will continue to grow, so please pop back often.

We do this because it's worth doing...

  Here's a short introduction to the ideals of the N M W:

We, the organisers of the New Music Weekender intend to bring the broadest possible spectrum of fresh musical talent
to the most diverse audiences.

We would like to see people come together, but not just to listen to music. We want to see people enjoying music, hearing something new, and being inspired by music. Most of all we want to provide a place for music to thrive.

Whether you want to join in and get involved in making music, or just sit back and enjoy watching others perform, you'll be supporting musicians and hopefully taking something away with you from the experience.

In an age when 'reality' programs encourage competitive
behaviour and only rarely do true Artists make the 'top ten', we would like to offer Musicians the chance to demonstrate that Real Music can bring people together.

Any proceeds from the NMW will be fairly distributed:

No fat 'promoters fees'.

If the event does better than expected then the artists and
performers benefit directly too.

We are driven by a belief in what we are doing, rather than commercial interests. It is our hope that by using the internet properly (and giving our time freely of course {:^) we can keep costs to a minimum.

In the future:

We hope to hold regular events around the country.

Supporting and encouraging musicians, each event dedicated to allowing music to thrive and enriching the lives of everyone involved.

If you show us you want it, we'll do everything we can to get it for you !

We'll scour the country, finding true musicians and bring them to your attention at New Music Weekenders. Each event will involve a broad mixture of musical styles and usually the opportunity to learn directly from the musicians at workshops during the day.

So please, support our effort

By linking to this page (check back often for updates) and telling your friends about us.

Even better, get all your friends and family (yes, Granny too), grab your tent and come along and join us for a musical experience not to be missed!

Bob Dylan is reported to have said:

"Music can save people, but it can't in the commercial way it's being used. It's just too much. It's pollution"

For a small taste of the range of genres these events will cover, here's a little about our Friday night performers:

Uniting The Elements -  these guys ROCK!... they bring such energy to every performance it's infectious. I defy not to be affected... not to be missed!!

The Quirky -  psychedelic / funk, great sounds with a unique flavour... the lead singer has a refreshingly free vocal palette, and is renowned for her barnyard noises... :0)

Crossroad Collision - world music, lead by an amazing Djembe player and tutor from Cameroon... We're fortunate enough to have 2 members of Crossroad Collision, Steve (African drums) and Tim (kit)... performing a full on 1 hour set just on drums!
